A-Model 07225 Beriev KOR-1 Soviet II WW Hydroplane

The Beriew KOR-1 (another designation: Be-2) was a Soviet seaplane with a metal structure, in a biplane arrangement, with a fixed float undercarriage. The drive was provided by a single M-25 radial engine with a maximum power of 750 hp. The flight of the prototype took place in 1934, and serial production continued in the period 1936-1938, ending with the production of 12 machines of this type. The aircraft was armed with 3 cannons of 7.62 mm SzKAS or PW-1 machine guns and a load of up to 100 kg of bombs.

The Beriew KOR-1 was created in response to the demand expressed by the Soviet Navy for a new seaplane, capable of taking off from a ship catapult and intended to replace the licensed Heinkel He-55 aircraft in the line. The KOR-1 met the basic naval requirements and entered line service in 1938. It served both as an on-board plane on some Soviet cruisers (e.g. Kirov), and also as a patrol seaplane in the Black Sea and Baltic Sea basins. During the first period of the war with Germany (1941-1942), KOR-1 planes served to a limited extent in the Baltic Sea and during the Battle of Sevastopol. In 1942, all surviving machines were decommissioned.
