The Ford Escort is an American passenger car of the lower-middle and later middle class, produced by the Ford Motor Corporation, which was first presented to the public in 1967 at the Brussels motor show. Its production started a year later and lasted in Europe until 2004. During this period, its production was carried out in several cities, including: Halewood in Great Britain, Saarlouis in Germany or Almussafes in Spain. The Escort model was developed and put into production in order to expand the commercial offer of the Ford concern, as well as to replace the Anglia model. Compared to its predecessor, the Escort model received a redesigned body with a new design and a much wider range of carburetor engines with power from 45 to 101 HP. It was offered in sedan (2- and 4-door), station wagon and van versions. Already in 1974, the Ford Motor Corporation announced the production of the 2 millionth Escort model! Six generations of the Ford Escort were produced for sale in Europe, the last of which was offered in the years 1995-2004. The model in the company's offer was replaced by a Ford Focus.
The Triumph Herald is a British compact car, which was first presented to the public in 1959. Its production started in the same year and lasted until 1971 - more than 500,000 copies of this car were produced during it. All production took place at plants in the city of Coventry in Great Britain.
The Herald model was developed and put into production to replace the Standard Eight-Ten (8/10) model in Triumph's offer. The new model was designed from the very beginning as a car that was cheap to operate and produce, and could be used by four people in a relatively comfortable way. However, an interesting style was chosen, for which the outstanding Italian car designer Giovanni Michelotti was responsible. During series production, the car was offered mainly with three engines with a capacity of 0.95 to 1.3 liters. The car was produced in several body variants, including: 4-door sedan, 2-door coupe or 3-door station wagon. In the Triumph range, the Herald model has been replaced by the Toledo model.
