The FAB-250 M-54 is a Soviet, airborne, cold-war free-fall demolition bomb. The bomb was 150 cm long with a diameter of 32.5 cm. The weight of the weapon was 236 kg, and the mass of the explosive was 97.5 kg. The bomb was used by the Soviet Air Force in the 1950s and remained in service until the end of the Cold War. Along with other bombs from the FAB-250 family, it was one of the most widely used bombs in Soviet aviation at that time. It was characterized by relatively small dimensions, thanks to which it could be carried by combat machines of various sizes: from MiG-17 fighters to Tu-22M bombers. In extreme cases, it could even be used by helicopters. The condition for its transfer was that the aircraft remained at subsonic speed. FAB-250 M-54 bombs were used on a large scale during the war in Afghanistan in 1979-1989.
