The StuIG33 (full name: Sturminfanteriegeschütz 33B) was a German self-propelled armored gun from the Second World War. The first prototypes of this vehicle were created in 1942 - in the same year serial production began, which led to the creation of 24 vehicles of this type. The drive was provided by a single engine Maybach HL 120 TRM with a power of 300 hp. The cart was 5.4 meters long and 2.9 meters wide. The armament consisted of the 150 mm sIG 33 gun and the 7.92 mm MG34 machine gun. The StuIG33 was developed on the basis of the experience of the first months of the war with the Soviet Union, when it became clear that the German infantry did not have an adequately heavily armed armored cannon to support it during the attack. Ultimately, this role was to be played by the gun on the chassis of the Panzer IV (the future Brummbar), and the gun mount was used as a transitional solution. sIG 33 on the StuG III chassis from which it was made StuIG33. All vehicles of this type were directed to the fighting in the Stalingrad area, where almost all of them were lost. Only one vehicle of this type survived until 1945.
