Ilyushin Ił-4 (DB-3F) is a Soviet, twin-engine, low-wing medium bomber from the Second World War. The Il-4 was a far-reaching modernization of the DB-3 aircraft. The changes concerned, inter alia, the structure of the airframe and wing and, above all, the use of duralumin instead of steel on a much larger scale. The flight of the Il-4 machine took place in 1940, and it entered service a year later. Serial production continued until 1944. In its course, there were also further improvements - self-sealing fuel tanks, the use of protective weapons with a larger caliber, and above all the use of Tumanski M-88B 14-cylinder engines with a capacity of 1100 HP, in place of the Tumanski M-88 engines with a capacity of 1000 HP. Ilyushin Il-4 was the primary medium bomber of the Soviet Air Force throughout the war. It was used in many operations on the Eastern Front, especially in the period 1942-1943, as well as in several propaganda bombing raids over Berlin. The Il-4T aircraft was also used as a long-range torpedo bomber. About 5256 copies of this machine were produced globally. Technical data: length: 14.76m, wingspan: 21.44m, height: 4.1m, maximum speed: 410km / h, rate of climb: 6.9m / s, maximum range: 3800km, maximum ceiling 8700m, armament (early production series): fixed - three 7.62 mm SzKAS machine guns, suspended - up to 2700 kg of bombs.
