The Loire-Nieuport LN-40 is a French, single-engine, low wing dive bomber with inverted seagull wings from the Second World War. The flight of the prototype took place in 1938, and entry into service in 1940. The plane was powered by a 690HP Hispano-Suiza 12Xcrs engine. During the French campaign, they were used in raids on armored columns of German troops. They suffered considerable losses in the course of these attacks, caused by poor defensive weapons and average performance. In the Mediterranean, the French Navy used these machines to patrol and attack Italian ships. About 100 machines of this type were manufactured, and the last units were used until 1947.
