KARAYA E7202 Nene British jet engine – resin + PE (ex RV)

The Rolls-Royce Nene was a British aircraft engine of the Second World War and the early post-war period produced by Rolls-Royce Limited plants. It was first tested in October 1944. The engine - in the basic version - had a weight of 725.7 kilograms and a length of 246 centimeters. It is estimated that a total of about 1,100 examples of this aircraft engine were built.

The Rolls-Royce Nene was developed as a result of the requirements set by the British Ministry of Aviation at the beginning of 1944 for a new jet engine dedicated primarily to fighter aircraft. The research and development process went very quickly as it took less than 6 months! The design of the Nene engine was based on another Rolls-Royce power unit called Derwent. Despite the fast pace of work, the Nene turned out to be a very successful engine with a compact structure, relatively small size and above all - very high thrust, which made it one of the most powerful jet engines in the world in the second half of the 1940s. Interestingly, the serial production of this power unit was started by the United States (designation Pratt and Whitney J42) and - without a license - the Soviet Union (designation RD-45). The Rolls-Royce Nene engine - in various versions - served as a power unit for such machines as, for example, de Havilland Vampire, Hawker Sea Hawk, Dassault Ouragan or F9F Panther.
