Type 3 is a 75 mm tank gun from the World War II period, Japanese production. The cannon entered service in 1944. The barrel length of this gun was 38 calibers, or 285 centimeters. The average initial velocity of a shell fired from this gun was up to 680 m / s. When firing armor-piercing ammunition (shell weight 6.6 kg), it was able to penetrate an armor plate with a thickness of 90 mm at a distance of 100 meters and 63-65 mm at a distance of 1000 meters. The presented gun was developed as a development of the Japanese 75mm Type 90 field gun, which in turn was based on the French Schneider Canon de 85 mle 1927 gun. It is quite commonly accepted that the Type 3 75mm gun was the most powerful Japanese tank gun produced serial during World War II, and its main task was to fight the Allied vehicles M3 Lee / Grant and M4 Sherman. The cannon was the main armament of the Type 3 Chi-Nu.
