WSK SM-1 was a Polish light multi-role helicopter from the Cold War period. the first flight took place in 1956, and shortly after that, serial production started at WSK ¦widnik. The drive was provided by a single Lit-3 with 575 HP. In the basic version, the machine fuselage length was 12.08 meters, with the main rotor diameter of 14.34 meters.
The WSK SM-1 helicopter was a license version of the Soviet Mil Mi-1 machine, the documentation of which was provided to the Polish side in 1954 or 1955. Originally, WSK SM-1 machines were made of parts and subassemblies manufactured in the USSR, but relatively quickly, since 1957, they were assembled from parts produced in Poland. Several versions of the helicopter were created in the course of production, among them: SM-1/600 (basic, connecting version), SM-1D (version with a crane with a capacity of up to 120 kg), SM-1S (sanitary version) and SM-1¯ (agricultural helicopter). A version of the SM-1W with enlarged cabin dimensions and new navigation devices was also created in 1960. The withdrawal of the SM-1 machines from the line took place in the 1960s.
