Zeppelin NT is a term for the type of modern, civil, German airships. The flight of a prototype of airships of this class took place in 1997. Until now, 6 aerostats of this class have been manufactured. The drive is provided by three Textron-Lycoming IO-360 engines with 200 HP each. Airships of this class are 75 meters long, and their crew consisted of only 2 people. They are able to carry 12 passengers or 1,900 kilograms of cargo. The top speed does not exceed 125 km / h.
Zeppelin NT was developed by one of the subsidiaries of the Zeppelin concern, and the production of this series of airships takes place in Friedrichshafen, Germany. They are currently the largest self-propelled aircraft in the world and the only one with an internal scaffolding-skeleton. The Zeppelin concern obviously follows the NT model to its tradition of building large aerostats, whose career was interrupted by the Hindenburg airship (LZ 129) crash. However, the Zeppelin NT differs from its great predecessors in almost everything - except the overall concept. At present, its copies are used for tourist and advertising purposes.
